Materials & Care
Jewelry is meant to be lived in.
At UN.EVEN, every material is chosen with intention—not only for the way it looks today, but for how it will wear over time. We believe beautiful materials deserve thoughtful craftsmanship, and with a little care, your jewelry can remain part of your everyday for years to come.
Our Materials
925 Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is a precious metal composed of 92.5% pure silver. We choose sterling silver for its durability, timeless appearance, and ability to age beautifully.
Like all sterling silver, it may naturally develop a soft patina over time. This is completely normal and can be easily restored with a polishing cloth.
14k Gold-Filled
Most of our gold pieces are crafted using 14k gold-filled components.
Unlike traditional gold-plated jewelry, gold-filled contains a thick layer of solid 14k gold that is permanently bonded to the base metal under heat and pressure. This layer is many times thicker than standard gold plating, making it significantly more durable and resistant to everyday wear.
With proper care, gold-filled jewelry can retain its beauty for many years and is an excellent choice for everyday wear.
Gold Vermeil
A small selection of our designs is crafted in 18k gold vermeil.
Gold vermeil is created by applying a thick layer of gold over solid 925 sterling silver. It offers the beauty of gold while maintaining the quality and durability of a precious metal foundation.
As with all vermeil jewelry, gentle care will help preserve its finish over time.
Freshwater Pearls
Every freshwater pearl is naturally unique.
We select pearls individually for their luster, shape, and character rather than perfect uniformity. Small differences in shape, size, surface, and color are natural and are part of what makes each piece one of a kind.
Pearls are organic gemstones and deserve gentle handling. Avoid prolonged exposure to perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and household chemicals.
Natural Gemstones
We use carefully sourced natural gemstones selected for their beauty, character, and individuality.
Because they are formed by nature, each stone may vary slightly in color, pattern, or texture. These variations are not imperfections—they're part of what makes every piece unique.
Caring for Your Jewelry
A few simple habits will help your jewelry stay beautiful for years.
- Put your jewelry on last, after applying skincare, perfume, sunscreen, and hairspray.
- Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or cleaning.
- Store pieces separately to help prevent scratches and tangling.
- Wipe jewelry gently with a soft cloth after wearing to remove natural oils and moisture.
- Avoid prolonged contact with chlorine, saltwater, and harsh chemicals.
Pearl Care
Pearls are among nature's most delicate gemstones.
Wear them often—they benefit from the natural oils in your skin—but avoid prolonged exposure to water and chemicals.
Clean pearls gently with a soft, damp cloth. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh jewelry cleaning solutions.
Silver Care
Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air.
To restore its shine:
- Use a soft silver polishing cloth.
- Store jewelry in a dry place when not in use.
- Keep pieces away from excessive humidity whenever possible.
Tarnishing is a natural characteristic of sterling silver and does not affect its quality.
Gold-Filled & Vermeil Care
Gold-filled and gold vermeil jewelry require very little maintenance and are designed to be worn and enjoyed regularly.
To help preserve their finish:
- Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing compounds.
- Store pieces separately to prevent scratches.
- Clean gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth when needed.
Natural Variation
At UN.EVEN, we intentionally choose pearls and gemstones with natural character.
Your piece may vary slightly from the photographs in shape, color, or texture. These subtle differences are what make every piece unique and are an essential part of its beauty.
Handmade in Small Batches
Every UN.EVEN piece is assembled by hand in small batches.
We believe in thoughtful craftsmanship over mass production, creating jewelry designed to become part of your everyday rather than something saved only for special occasions.
With quality materials, careful craftsmanship, and a little care, your jewelry is made to last.
